Will McLaren feel the loss of Hamilton?

By David Blood

I doubt it very much, if you think back on his somewhat unspectacular career with one of F1′s most respected and successful teams. Of course there was the Ron Dennis saga, which they would love to forget, but he seems oblivious as he strolls around the McLaren garage on race days.

Lewis Hamilton did win one world championship for McLaren; that was when Timo Glock decided to take his foot off the gas on the last lap of the Brazilian Grand Prix which allowed Hamilton to gain that single point and steal the title from Filipe Massa, in front of the Brazilian’s home crowd – it is” no wonder the two of them have locked horns numerous times since then.

First of all he has been a typical whining Pom, the exact opposite of Jenson Button, who is always the perfect gentleman.

Secondly; he gets to sleep with a Pussycat Doll!

Thirdly; he is erratic and often irrational in the way he handles his car, something the Aussie cops weren’t prepared to put up with when they arrested him and impounded his Merc in Melbourne for reckless driving.

Fourthly; he gets to sleep with a Pussycat Doll!

He must be the most disliked driver in F1 since Jacques Villeneuve – except if you’re British, then he is number one!

What does he think that a move from McLaren Mercedes to the Mercedes factory team is going to get him, besides a big fat healthy bank balance? The McLaren has been consistently faster than the Mercedes and I would bet the farm that if Michael Schumacher were to trade places with Hamilton next season, Schumi would clean him up – as old as he is!

Obviously all has not been well between Hamilton and Martin Whitmarsh at McLaren for some time now, with a lot of rumblings coming from Hamilton about the treatment he has been getting and why his car keeps breaking down and obviously Whitmarsh didn’t think that he was worth what Mercedes are going to pay him.

Ross Brawn must know something that we don’t and he must have a lot of faith in Hamilton’s ability to do better than Rosberg and Schumacher have done in the past two years, with only a single victory between them; either way, unless Ross has some new trick up his sleeve to make the Mercedes more competitive next year, Hamilton will be starting from sixth or lower on the grid and out of the way of some of the better drivers.

Whatever position he gets to start at, he will always have a smile on his face. Why? Because he gets to sleep with a Pussycat.
