The Winners and Losers in England

Who will win the Barclays English Premier League on Sunday, Manchester City or Manchester United? and who will join Wolves and Blackburn in the Championship next season, Bolton Wanderers or QPR?

After winning the Manchester derby at Eastlands on the 30th April,  Manchester City can only lose the title as it is theirs as things stand, they have an eight goal advantage over United and if both teams win on Sunday, then unless United knock in eight more against Sunderland than City score against QPR, the title will go to Eastlands for the first time since the formation of the Premier League.

United are away to the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light and there is nothing that Martin O’Neill would enjoy more that sticking to the glamour boys for once. Sunderland are never easy to beat on home soil but I would expect United to come away with all three points.

For Mark Hughes it’s a different story altogether. He goes back to the club that sacked him in favour of the incumbant knowing that if City beat him, they will won the title, but if Bolton Wanderers win away at Stoke City that would mean relegation for QPR and probably another pink slip for Sparky.

On the other hand, if he manages to pull another rabbit out of the hat like he did last weekend and beat City or even draw, he will be safe and have robbed his detractors of their first ever Premiership.

What do I think? Well I think that City will score four or five against QPR, I think that United will win at Sunderland and City will take the title.

I think that, as much as I like Owen Coyle and would hate to see him get booted, I believe that Stoke City at the Britannia are a bridge too far for the hapless Trotters and I thnk that they will join Blackburn and Wolves in the Championship next season  — David Blood, SportsCentral
