Jay Spearing sees Red as the Reds go down

It was a lack-lustre performance from Liverpool at Craven Cottage on Monday night in the Barclays Premier League, a performance that saw them come away empty handed and three points worse off.

With little to show other than possession in the first half, Kenny Dalglish’s charges headed for the tunnel tied 0-0 with Fulham.

The 30-million-pound man Carroll had been given a start but had shown about as mush promise as Torres in a Blue shirt.

In the 71st minute Jay Spearing was very unlucky to be shown a straight red card, when his sliding tackle, cleared the ball away, but his momentum took him crashing into Dembele, studs showing. Referee Friend reached for the red card without hesitation and the Reds were down to 10 men.

Fulham were attacking at every opportunity and a Danny Murphy shot was spilled by Reina in goal and Clint Dempsey was on had to stroke it home. It was a poor effort from Reina which cost his team dearly. Final score at Craven Cottage: Fulham 1 - 0 Liverpool  — Staff reporter, SportsCentral.
