India edge through to another thriller

For the second time in four days, India and West Indies played out a thriller, this time with India triumphing by a single wicket. As in the Mumbai Test, the final delivery of the match was hit to long-on, but this time there were no tears as last man Umesh Yadav’s drive went for four to end a tight match.

The cricket wasn’t of the highest order, but not too many cared as India came back from the dead to secure an improbable win.

Rohit Sharma would appear to have clinched the game with a level-headed half-century after India slipped to 59 for 5, but his dismissal 11 runs shy provided an extra input of excitement.

Vinay Kumar then holed out to midoff, leaving two tailenders to brave the last four overs and 11 runs. Crazy tailend batting followed, includng 15 ot balls, before the winning runs.

In Mirpur, Pakistan easily outplayed Bangladesh. Their modest 135 was enough to secure a 50-run win as Bangadesh imploded.
