Mpumalanga Bodybuilding Novice Show 2012

Hosted by Mpumalanga Province under the auspices of Bodybuilding South Africa, Secunda set the stage for over 40 demigods competing in 12 weight divisions showcasing the beauty of the chiseled male and female form.

Greeted by the obvious passion of the athletes, officials and judges, one could sense the sheer pride and admiration associated with the sport.

Aptly put by Wayne Price, to these athletes, “it’s a lifestyle”.

The Mpumalanga Novice was the first of a series of meetings taking place across the country. The novice division allows emerging athletes a taste of real competition before large audiences.

Some of South Africa’s leading senior judges and officials attended the event to show their support to the new region, which was included only this year in the Bodybuilding SA circuit. They were not disappointed. Everyone was in full praise of the athletes’ well-defined bodies and professionalism. Some officials attributed the success of the region’s inclusion and the staging of the event to the media exposure the sport enjoys.

Marius Dohne, who also graced the stage with his world-winning form, was impressed by the discipline of the athletes, evident in the way they prepared for the event. He said the athletes’ confidence on the stage bore testimony to their winning attitude and thirst for victory. “South African bodybuilding is looking great and will be making a great impression at international bodybuilding competitions.”

Flying the flag for fitness and a healthy lifestyle, the Mpumalanga Novice Show provided a platform for divisions such as: Ladies Beach Bikini, Ladies Fitness Bikini and Ladies Body Fitness.

Male competitors ranged from the Up to 65kg to the Over 90kg. The overall winner in this breathtaking array was Sean Koeberg.
